Synopsis The electrical substations are the most significant sources of data regarding the current state of the power system. For the last two decades, the use of a substation gateway such as a Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) has been widely deployed addressing the operational requirement of the SCADA/EMS/DMS systems. Although the RTU provides valuable operational data to the power system operators, the non-operational data remains largely untapped and trapped in the various intelligent electronic devices (IED) and sensors at the substation. The ability to remotely access the non-operational data such as the health of the Transformer, and fault event records can significantly improve the reliability and efficiency of the utility operation.
The next generation of Smart Substation will utilize a substation data management unit which will provide data integration of substation devices, cyber security and delivery of information to SCADA, data warehouse and business applications.
This seminar will discuss why the Smart Substation is a key component to enabling the potential of the Smart Grid.
Key benefits of attending
- Latest Smart Grid technologies
- Exchange ideas and experiences in Smart Grid deployment
- Smart Substation as a key enabler for Smart Grid
